HSBC decided to ignore these comments...

Below are just a FEW of the comments that have been said about the planned closure:

• Please do not close the last bank in the town. It is a vital part of the community.
   
• I joined the Midland Bank in 1963 before HSBC take over.We have had good service over the years but find the closure of the Whitchurch branch to be beyond belief. If HSBC have to cut costs in this way,they must have problems.May be I should change bank ASAP.
   
• This bank is the only one for miles around, serving the community in and around Whitchurch, it would be terrible to close it down.
   
• I run a small business which is depended on the personel service currently enjoyed at the HSBC.
   
• I use the bank regularly for making payments for our school PTFA and am unable to get to the Overton and Andover branch.
   
• I use the ATM at least twice a week and use the branch for paying in cheques. If the Whitchurch branch closes I will be closing my account with HSBC - if they won't support Whitchurch then I will not support them.
   
• We hold 3 business accounts and simply cannot believe you are thinking about closing the Whitchurch Branch. We NEVER go to Andover! We need this branch to remain open to serve the good people of Whitchurch.
   
• You are suppose to be the worlds local bank, we are trying not to use our cars, many people haven't got access to internet.
   
• The bank is a vital part of our business banking and I visit it at least 3 times/week.
   
• This closure would highlight yet another facility being removed from the town, particularly as local businesses and the public need to maintain Whitchurch as a thriving community. It is ridiculous if HSBC claim to be the worlds local bank and then close the very facility that their customers need. I sincerely hope that they do not go on to claim that the closure will "improve their service to their customers".
   
• Presumably closing our branch will save enough money to enable the 'decision makers' to be paid their 'fat cat' bonuses. Do these 'decision makers' really live in the real world
   
• I can't understand why this bank is to be closed, it is a crucial part of our town! Are we to be forced to travel to the next town just to withdraw some cash?! Very environmentally friendly that is!
   
• This closure will cause problems for businesses, private individuals and voluntary organisations. If it goes ahead I will move all my business away from HSBC and sever the relationship in 2010.
   
• As a regular user of this bank, I am dismayed by the news of the bank's closure. Like many other people in the community, I am getting older and less able to travel to neighbouring towns. In fact, I only opened an account with HSBC because it had a branch in the town. I, like no doubt other people, will need to consider whether we want to continue to bank with a company that puts its managers bonuses ahead of service to its customers. There will be no bonuses if there are no customers.
   
• Removing the bank will make life difficult for small businesses in Whitchurch and have an impact on the environment as we drive to Andover.
   
• The closure of HSBC bank in Whitchurch will have detrimental effect on the entire community.
   
• The world's local bank needs to stay local. Please save this bank from closing.
   
• Small towns like Whitchurch are being stripped of many of their facilities. Please keep a bank there for the locals to use - people who can't necessarily get into Andover or Basingstoke.
   
• What will happen when there are the likes of the older generation trying to get money out? They will have to travel to Andover just to access their money? Shops and bars may start losing custom. Its a local, friendly bank. I know I use it on so many different occasions, I'm a student, I don't want to be wasting my time travelling to Basingstoke or Andover just to get some cash out if for some reason I don't want to use my card, I need to spend time studying. Keep It Open.
   
• I use the Whitchurch bank regularly as it is very inconvenient to travel to the next branch with two small children in tow.
   
• We need this facility!!!!
   
• I have many friends and business associates who rely on the HSBC branch in Whitchurch.
   
• Interestingly, I was genuinely just about to open a Business Account.
   
• What happened to HSBC's undertaking not to close a branch when it is the last bank in a town?

• Have been a loyal customer over 28 years, ignoring lures from other High Street banks such as Saturday openings, free money in my account etc., but only because I value the familiar and friendly faces behind the counter in Whitchurch. If they go, so will I - in search of a bank who values its excellent employees and their customers views.
   
• Having banking facilities in the town is essential for businesses, residents and visitors alike.
   
• For businesses and individuals who need to pay cheques/ money IN this closure would be a HUGE blow. To do the round trip to Overton or Andover is just not an option for some people and HSBC should consider its responsibility to small communities as much as it considers its corporate portfolio.

• I was surprised about the closure of HBSC in Whitchurch as I had not heard about it and I am a customer! It is important that rural districts are listened to - do people without cars want to spend a day getting to and from their nearest bank by public transport?

• It would be a great shame to see this branch closure since it will have a significant advserse effect on the local community.

• Closure of this bank will add considerably to my time, and expenses. It is not "environmentally friendly" to force bank users to travel to Andover every time. And it adds a large element of risk for those of us who carry considerable sums of cash to pay in.

• I am really disapointed that HSBC are not even running a consultation process prior to the closure.
